Mountain Maps and Moving Plates

Mountain Maps and Moving Plates

Fourth-graders enjoyed an exciting Earth science unit about tectonic plates. They explored how Earth’s surface changes over time and learned that giant slabs of rock slowly move and shape our planet. Students studied major mountain ranges around the world. Using clear, colorful maps, students located each range and then identified the two tectonic plates that collided to create it.

This project helped fourth-graders think like young scientists, ask questions, and understand the powerful forces beneath their feet.
