February is celebrated as Black History Month. Fourth-grade students created a project in art class based on the book, "Tar Beach," by Faith Ringgold. Students drew themselves flying over something that was important and/or significant to them. Faith Ringgold was an amazing African-American artist, author, illustrator, and activist which is why art teacher Kerry Sweet chose her as an example.
